We All Live in a Submarine… Or Will
Fun fact: Elon Musk was Robert Downey Jr.’s inspiration for the role of Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man – and all the Avengers movies that you may have heard about. Director Jon Favreau stated:
“Elon Musk makes no sense — and that’s the reason I know him. When I was trying to bring the character of genius billionaire Tony Stark to the big screen in Iron Man, I had no idea how to make him seem real. Robert Downey Jr. said, ‘We need to sit down with Elon Musk.’ … Downey was right. Elon is a paragon of enthusiasm, good humor and curiosity — a Renaissance man in an era that needs them.”
On that note, this Renaissance man dropped a million dollars on the submarine car called Wet Nellie, from the 1977 James Bond flick The Spy Who Loved Me, in 2013. Musk claims that he’s going to upgrade it with a Tesla electric powertrain and make it actually work underwater. While there’s been no updates on the project as of yet, we wouldn’t be surprised if we’re all swimming with sharks in the next few years!
