The Tuskegee and Guatemala Syphilis Studies

When you go to the doctor, you never expect you doctor to get you sick. But, the United States government had different thoughts in mind. They wanted to understand syphilis and its spread better, so they decided to experiment on others and watch as their illness progressed without treatment.
Doctors were sent abroad to Guatemala to give “flu shots” containing syphilis to locals. In America, the experiment was carried out at Tuskegee College, a black college in Alabama. The experiments killed hundreds between 1932 and 1972.
What makes this worse was that there already was a treatment for syphilis available at the time, but victims never got it.
