According to the IDFA, 11 years ago today (May 22, 2017), Japanese angler Keiki Hamasaki set the All-Tackle world record for giant trevally with this massive 72.8 kg (160 lb 7 oz) specimen. Even more impressive is that Hamasaki caught the record fish in 35 minutes, after it ate the large plug he was casting from the shoreline of the Tokara Islands in Kagoshima, Japan.
Commonly referred to as an Uluah, in Hawaii, many folks have caught giant trevally close to 100 lb. but Keiki Hamasaki blew all records out of the water and still holds onto it today!
