Caught by Lyal Baumgardner in 1953, this white seabass record is mighty old! People have come close to it, in 2016 a kayak fisherman caught one over 70 lbs. but it was not big enough to beat Lyal’s record. While drifting dead sardine, Lyal got the bight of a lifetime. It took him 38 min to reel in this fish while he was fishing in San Felipe, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
