The first documented evidence of coffee beans being roasted, brew, and drank in the manner that we do today is in Yemen in the late 15th century. It was used by monks in that area to stay awake during prayers and rituals. Although Yemen is not far from Ethiopia, it isn’t known exactly how the bean was introduced there.
